About Gail Rizzo

Gail Rizzo is a former competitive swimmer from Malta and a current swimming coach. She represented Malta at the 1996 Summer Olympics, competing in multiple events.

At the 1996 Olympic Games, Rizzo competed in three swimming events. She placed 50th out of 55 in the 50m freestyle with a time of 28.43 seconds, finished 48th (last) in the 100m freestyle with a time of 1:02.19, and came 33rd out of 36 in the 100m backstroke, clocking 1:07.61.

In May 1997, Rizzo set a national record in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:25.66, a record that stood for over two decades until it was broken in 2019.

After retiring from competitive swimming, she transitioned into coaching and became the head coach of Neptunes WPSC, one of Malta’s prominent swimming clubs.
