The Olympic Games are held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating by occurring every four years but two years apart.

The Commonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The event was first held in 1930, and has taken place every four years since then. Athletes with a disability are also included as full members of their national teams, making the Commonwealth Games as the first fully inclusive international multi-sport event.
It is also the world’s first multi-sport event which inducts equal number of women’s and men’s medal events and was implemented recently in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. With such unique features, the World Economic Forum called the event inspiring and significant.
The European Games is an international multi-sport event in the Olympic tradition contested by athletes from European nations.
The Games were envisioned and are governed by the European Olympic Committees (EOC), which announced their launch at its 41st General Assembly in Rome, on 8 December 2012.
The Mediterranean Games is a multi-sport games held usually every four years, between nations around or very close to the Mediterranean Sea, where Europe, Africa, and Asia meet.
The games are under the auspices of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM).
The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) are a biennial multi-sport event, which originated from an idea of Bertie Muscat, a former member of the Maltese Olympic Committee Executive, in 1981. The Games came into fruition in 1985, when the first Games were hosted by San Marino. The Games are organized by and feature the National Olympic Committees of nine European small states which are also affiliated members of the European Olympic Committees (EOC).
The Games are held at the end of May or beginning of June and feature competition in nine Summer Olympic sports. From its initial forming at the 1984 Olympics through 2009, there were eight members. In 2009, Montenegro became the group’s ninth member.
To be eligible for participation in these Games, members all have a population of less than one million people. Cyprus is the only exception. This is due to the fact that upon inception of these Games in 1984, its population was below one million.
