The Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) in collaboration with the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research & Innovation (MEYR) and the Malta Schools Sport Federation (MSSF), recently held a full day of Interschools competitions as part of the Malta School Games (MSG) programme. The event took place at the St. Aloysius College Sports Complex in B’Kara and hosted students from participating schools which included De La Salle, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School Naxxar, GEM 16+, Junior College, Sir Mikelang Refalo Sixth Form Gozo, MCAST, St. Edward’s, Verdala International School & hosts St. Aloysius College The Malta School Games day’s programme – which kicked off at the beginning of the scholastic year – saw participants,born in 2007 and 2008, take part in various disciplines, including Athletics (Track), Badminton, Basketball 3×3, Football (Men), Football (Women), Handball, Indoor-Rowing, Table Tennis and Volleyball. “This programme was developed to foster a wider perspective to the Olympic Values and allowing students to gain experiences which will prepare them for possible future international competitions/events” remarked Kevin Azzopardi, MOC Secretary General. “I take the opportunity to thank all those involved – MOC, PE Teachers, National Federations and Officials who contributed towards such a well attended event”. The Malta School Games have played a vital role in promoting the core values of the Olympic movement—Excellence, Respect, and Friendship—while demonstrating the importance of fostering a healthy society and integrating these values into daily life.
