Matthew Mallia managed to obtain a gold medal in the Seniors 97kg category at the Windsor Wrestling Open which was held yesterday in London.
He managed to win his three bouts against foreign opposition thus bringing home the most prestigious metal for team Malta. Our Under 17s, namely Denzel Zammit, Adam Vassallo and Craig Grech finished one step away from the medal zone after winning one bout each in their respective categories. Taking part in the seniors were also Gabriel Caruana, Mark Bugeja and Cedric Vella. Accompanying the team were Jesmond Giordmaina as national team coach and Abraham Vassallo as International Referee.
