Gianluca Chetcuti

Gianluca Chetcuti is a prominent Maltese sport shooter who began his journey in 2012 and quickly advanced in the Double Trap discipline, earning a Junior bronze medal at his international debut in the 2014 Italian Nations Cup. In 2017, he reached the final of the ISSF World Cup in Larnaca and secured gold at the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in San Marino, followed by a bronze at the European Championships in Baku.
About Gianluca Chetcuti
He briefly shifted to Trap in 2018, competing in the ISSF World Cup in Malta, but returned to Double Trap in 2019 to win another GSSE gold in Montenegro. By 2020, he committed to Trap and, in 2023, became the first Maltese shooter to reach an ISSF Trap World event final and to final in two separate ISSF disciplines. His historic 124/125 score at the 2023 European Games in Wroclaw set both a national and European Games record. In 2024, he placed 4th at the ISSF Final Olympic Qualification Championships in Doha and was the top scorer at the Malta International Grand Prix. Representing Malta at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he placed 29th, Chetcuti also had the honour of carrying the national flag at the Opening Ceremony alongside swimmer Sasha Gatt.
