Elaine Genovese and Francesca Curmi  put up a spirited performance in the  women’s doubles final against Cyprus duo Raleca Serban and Maria Siopchan however had to settle for Silver against top seed Serban who made all the difference with powerful play. Curmi, is the youngest member of the Maltese contingent,  who in her first appearance at the GSSE, also won bronze in the singles competition. This was Genovese’s third medal in the Games after winning the bronze medal in the singles and mixed doubles.
