About Tanya Blake
Tanya Blake is a retired middle-distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres and represented Malta at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Born in London to a Maltese mother and an American father, she held dual citizenship. Blake became the first Maltese athlete to break the two-minute barrier in the 800m, setting a national record of 1:59.56 at the 2003 Prefontaine Classic in Oregon, which qualified her for the Athens Games. Although she did not progress beyond the heats at the Olympics, her record-breaking run remains a milestone in Maltese athletics. During her career, she trained with the Żurrieq Wolves athletics club.
