The Maltese Olympic Committee, represented by Olympic Academy members Edmund Mifsud and Maria Zammit, participated in the Olympic Values Education Programme which was held recently in Birstonas, Lithuania. The Programme was organised by the Lithuanian Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Olympic Solidarity and the EU Erasmus + Programme This international event brought together 17 representatives from National Olympic Committees and Olympic Academies, all aiming to deepen their understanding in sports values, including Friendship, Excellence, Respect, Solidarity, Inclusion and Equality. https://youtu.be/pvzsFZzp9HU?feature=shared The workshops delivered by a professional team included physical activities, team building, observations and reflections all based on key educational experiences. The programme emphasised experiential training, focusing on developing methods of informal education based on values, education and cultures. Participants worked in small groups improving abilities to develop programmes and later implement ideas in their countries through a variety of sport disciplines. “The OVEP training programme is an invaluable tool which will help us enhance our efforts towards promoting Olympic Values and implement new strategies through various programmes hosted by the Maltese Olympic Committee” remarked David Azzopardi, Chair of the Maltese Olympic Academy.
