The Malta Darts Association (MDA) was officially founded on 14th March 1962, with Benny Pace as its first president, a position he remarkably held for 35 years, apart from a brief two-year break between 1978 and 1979. Initially known as the “Morning Star,” the association also published a magazine under the same name, driven by Pace’s efforts to promote the sport locally. The first committee included Louis Florian as General Secretary, Peter Tonna as Treasurer, and David Manduca alongside the Bongailas brothers as committee members. This marked the start of formal darts governance in Malta, laying the groundwork for national competitions and eventual international participation. Over the decades, the MDA evolved into a respected body in European darts, actively contributing to the sport’s growth both locally and abroad.
