The Malta Golf Association was founded in 2006 and acts as the governing body for the sport of golf in the Maltese Islands. It observes the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status as laid down by the R&A of St. Andrews as well as the Rules of the World Handicapping System. The Association is a voluntary organization with membership predominantly open to amateur golfers within the geographical area of the association irrespective of gender, colour and religion. The Association is affiliated to the R&A; the International Golf Federation and the European Golf Association. The management of the affairs of the Association is vested in the Executive Council, in accordance with the provisions and regulations of a Statute.
